My blog: Taranto, Linux, Internet, but not only ..
Nautilus, the default file manager in Gnome, is exceptional, but it can happen sometimes had to use a feature, perhaps trivial, that is not included by default, and thus be forced to "turn" a bit more for the system .. A trivial example: we are in a directory (with GUI) and we need to take action on a file contained in it with root privileges .. Instead of manually open the shell, and type the path he requires, we can simply right click a blank area of the screen and will direct the command "Open terminal here" .. But do not stop there, for example we might need to do the same operation on many files, so why not exploit a script that, once selected, with a click does it all?
Installation is simple, from the command line:
cd ~/.gnome2/
wget http://g-scripts.sourceforge.net/nautilus-scripts.tar.gz
tar zxvf nautilus-scripts.tar.gz
At this point you have a new menu integrated into Nautilus (visible with a right click in a directory) containing all the new script. There are really for all needs, many myself I have never used. Course you are perfectly free to delete those you do not need, are all in ~/.gnome2/nautilus-scripts simply delete what you do not need ..
Quaasi forgot, they are all english .. I so I left them, but nobody forbids rename them in Italian .. ![]()
Probably all (or almost) know the Vista Transformation Pack, a set of applications capable of making the desktop of Windows XP is identical to that of his successor, Vista. But not everyone may know that there is an identical package for Mac OS X! Actually I have more than one, the undersigned, however, has tried FlyakiteOSX, package, along with WindowBlinds (absolutely must install this program to fully enjoy themed OS X), can completely change every aspect of our Windows, really giving us the impression of being in front of a Mac. Seeing is believing!
